Camp Christian Talent Show Song

Ah, Magnetic Springs...

I am going to really miss Advance Conference now that I am too old to go back. Here's the lyrics to the song that Micah and I sang at the Talent Show on Friday. I wrote them to go along with the tune "Such Great Heights" by Iron & Wine. It's dedicated to everyone who "graduated" from Advance Conference in 2007.

P.S. If you don't know what "Lake Snoopy" is or "Camp Christian" and words "chipped beef" do nothing for you --you really should find a way to get to Camp now!

I'm thinking it's a sign
that the film clips after lunch
are sacred images
and when we watch they're perfectly aligned.

And I think it's not just luck
that God himself...[err] herself, God self? [Start line over]
that God herself did call us here to learn and grow and play
like Chi Rho campers gone amok.

And true, it may seem like a stretch,
but it's thoughts like this that catch my troubled head
when I'm so scared of next year missing you to death.

And when we're back there in our homes
for several weeks or years
and when we scan our memories
I hope we've taken some action...
[shout] Lights, camera....ACTION!

You will see us waving from Lake Snoopy.
"Go home now!" you'll say.
But everything is perfect at Camp Christian.
We're home now, so we'll stay.

And he [point to Micah] tried his best to say
this all on the P.A. but the persistent beeping [BOOP]
sounded loud so you weren't listening.

Now we think it's time for change
though you young folks think we're strange;
We want to be Advance Conferees
until we're a hundred and thirty-three!

You will see us waving from Lake Snoopy.
"Go home now!" you'll say.
But everything is perfect at Camp Christian.
We're home now, so we'll stay.
